Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy (MNMA)

Within the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy (MNMA) was founded on October 1st, 2005, to offer training in a variety of social sciences and other fields of study pertinent to the advancement and promotion of social, economic, political, and technical development of developing countries.

The MNMA main campus is situated in Kivukoni, Dar es Salaam. Its other campuses are Pemba, which is situated in Pujini Chakechake Pemba, and Karume, which is situated in Bububu, Zanzibar. To fill the following open positions in the Institute, the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy is seeking a suitable, qualified, and competent individual from the United Republic of Tanzania. The chosen candidate must be open to working at any Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy campus.

Open Positions and Description

01. Assistant Lecture (Gender Studies) – 2 POSTS

Possessing a master’s degree in gender studies from a recognized university and a bachelor’s degree in gender studies with a minimum GPA of 3.8 in undergraduate studies and 4.0 in master’s studies.

02. Assistant Lecture (Procurement) – 2 POSTS

Possessing a Master’s degree in supply chain and procurement from accredited universities, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with a minimum GPA of 3.8 in undergraduate studies and 4.0 in graduate school.

03. Assistant Lecture (Economics)

Possessing a Master’s degree in Economics with a GPA of 3.8 from accredited universities, a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a GPA of at least 3.8 from undergraduate school, and a Master’s degree with a GPA of at least 4.0.

04. Assistant Lecture (Accountancy)

Possessing a Master’s degree in accounting from an accredited university, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.8 in undergraduate studies and 4.0 in graduate school.

05. Assistant Lecture (Human Resource Management/Public Administration) – 2 POSTS

Possessing a Master’s degree in public administration or human resource management from accredited universities, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in both fields with a minimum GPA of 4.0 for the master’s degree and at least 3.8 for the undergraduate degree.

06. Assistant Lecture (Geography) – 1 POST

Possessing a master’s degree in geography as well as a bachelor’s degree in geography with a minimum GPA of 3.8 in undergraduate studies and 4.0 in master’s studies.

07. Assistant Lecture (Mathematics) – 2 POSTS

Holder of a master’s degree in mathematics as well as a bachelor’s degree from accredited universities with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.8 and a minimum graduate GPA of 4.0.

08. Assistant Lecture (Statistics) – 2 POST

Possessing a master’s degree in statistics as well as a bachelor’s degree in statistics from accredited universities, with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.8 and a minimum graduate GPA of 4.0.

09. Assistant Lecture (ICT) – 2 POST

Possessing a master’s degree in information communication technology as well as a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, both with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.8 and a minimum graduate GPA of 4.0.

10. Assistant Lecture (Education in Psychology) – 3 POSTS

Possess a master’s degree in education (psychology) and a bachelor’s degree in education (psychology) from accredited universities, both with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.8 and a minimum graduate GPA of 4.0.

11. Assistant Lecture (Sociology)

Holder of a master’s degree in sociology from a recognized university and a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minimum GPA of 3.8 for undergraduate studies and 4.0 for graduate work.

Job Summary
The purpose of the role entails performing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) audits, investigations, and data analytics in line with applicable audit standards, policies, and procedures. To guide and support Business auditors in various audit projects where the use of ICT skills and knowledge is required.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer Relationship Management:

  • Conduct ICT audits and lead audit teams in the performance of ICT audits
  • Provide Business and management with insights on ICT risk management, particularly on application and infrastructure security.
  • Prepare and report results to Senior Management executives and the Audit Committee.
  • Perform pre- and post-implementation reviews of system implementations or enhancements.
  • Perform IT security audits (e.g., network, operating system, and data center), including evaluating whether security vulnerabilities are properly identified and mitigated.
  • Coordinate the scope and performance of these reviews with business units and external security experts.
  • Evaluate information general computing controls and provide value-added feedback. Test compliance with those controls.
  • Perform various other reviews of IT management policies and procedures such as change management, business continuity management, and information security to ensure that controls surrounding these processes are adequate.
  • Develop, build & implement tools to analyze data to improve audit efficiency and effectiveness, (including for risk assessments). Ultimately be a source for analytics that business Auditors adopt to provide business insights or for continuous auditing.
  • In consultation with Managers, review ICT risk assessment and audit programs relating to systems operations for change or improvements, if any.
  • Mapping or reviewing key processes relating to systems operations and sharing with audit teams key areas of risks in those processes.
  • Ensure audits are carried out in line with International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing as issued from time to time by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Guide auditors on report writing focusing on root cause identification and developing recommendations that address the root causes.
  • Provide regular training to auditors on areas that need improvement in systems reviews.
  • Lead audit teams and ensure audits progress as planned and in line with the approved scope, budget, and timetable.
  • Improving technical knowledge as well as soft skills through self-learning or formal training including meeting mandatory CPE requirements.
  • Be an expert in systems operations and share knowledge with the audit team and peers in the business.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Information systems, or Computer Engineering from any recognized University or its equivalent qualifications.
  • Certification in Information Systems Audit (CISA) or Certification in ACL Data Analyst levels (ACDA) would be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Practical experience in ICT audit operations for at least three years in a reputable organization/audit firm/Bank.
  • Good knowledge of IT audit standards and best ICT security practices.
  • Strong Communication Skills, Sound Business acumen, and Leadership skills

Role Purpose and Key Accountabilities
Role purpose
The manager will need to manage all tax matters of the company. He will be required to control all taxation compliance, ensure timely payment of tax due, and reduce risk to business from penalties and interests as a result of non-compliance to tha Applicable tax laws in Tanzania. He will also make sure that tax returns filed to the revenue Authorities; Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and Zanzibar Revenue Authority (ZRA) and other relevant bodies are prepared correctly and submitted as per set standards and timing. The manager will also need to implement policies and procedures to effectively manage the tax position of the company at any given time throughout the month and annually and to advise the management in all tax related matters and new provisions imposed by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania that have effects in tax related matters. The manager needs to be build a good relationship with Authorities’ (TRA & ZRA) Tax auditors and assessors, tax consultants and external auditors. 

  • Key accountabilities
  • Drive automation of various tax processes within tax function.
  • Compile and maintain financial models to be used for the tax computations and tax payments. Implement measures to manage the risk of penalties and interests as a results of non- compliance 
  • Propose, review and implement tax management policies and procedures 
  • Review all tax returns, computations and payments 
  • Manage relationships with TRA, Tax Consultants and tax lawyers 
  • Perform monthly turnover reconciliation of VAT and Excise duty.
  • Perform Balance Sheet Reconciliation in line with the given standards and timelines.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely submission of monthly group schedules and tax reports.
  • Monthly tax accounting (current tax provisioning and deferred tax accounting)
  • Perform a regular tax health check to identify possible risk and opportunities.
  • Liaise with the Group Tax on a regular basis.
  • Competencies, Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a financial and tax role 
  • Telecommunication industry experience advantageous
  • Thorough understanding of the theory of the tax function
  • Strong computer literacy especially Advance Microsoft Excel
